Cult Movie Night on Old Town Square - Little Shop of Horrors (1960 PG)

Cult Movie Night on Old Town Square - Little Shop of Horrors (1960 PG)

Join us in Old Town Square for a cult classic: Little Shop of Horrors (1960), hosted by Chris Stevens and Tyler Thibeau.

This weird little comedy-horror classic follows a clumsy florist’s assistant, a very strange plant, and a series of increasingly bad decisions. It’s dark, funny, low-budget, and a great pick for a movie night in the square.

What to bring:

  • chairs

  • blankets

  • jackets if it gets chilly

  • strong opinions about questionable plant care choices

Who this is for:
This film is not rated only because it came out before the modern rating system existed. It’s more campy than scary, but since there is a man-eating plant, parent discretion is encouraged for younger viewers.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Community Mural

We are excited to partner with Colorado State University and Poudre School District for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, honoring Dr. King’s legacy 🕊️

Join artist Decay Renew for a collaborative community mural at the Lory Student Center on January 19th from 10:45 am to 12:45 pm. This is a live painting session and the community is encouraged to participate! 🎨

This event brings together campus and community partners for a day of reflection, inspiration, and engagement featuring performances and opportunities to engage. Together, we celebrate the ongoing work of “Building Community, Uniting Fort Collins.”

“The mural symbolizes collective strength and shared humanity. The words ‘We Still Dream’ honor Dr. King’s legacy and celebrate unity, resilience, and the enduring power of hope”. - Decay Renew

The completed work will later be displayed on CSU campus.

About the Artist✨
Decay Renew is a Haitian American artist shaped by his upbringing in South Florida, where bright colors, layered cultures, and vibrant communities define everyday life. Growing up surrounded by murals and street art inspired him to create in public spaces while resisting the status quo. This taught him that creativity belongs to everyone and is strongest when shared. After moving to Colorado, Decay Renew’s work has been further influenced by the region’s diverse landscapes and a desire to preserving the outdoors through environmental conservation.

Speaking on: Follow the Science. The Intersect of Art and Science

Dominique Montaño is a Fort Collins artist and educator, utilizing a career in artistry, zoology and the sciences to investigate nature and its complexities through a visual lens. With a focus in systems thinking and how individual parts become the whole, she explores how science informs the arts, and how we can use the arts to advance and improve the sciences and our ability to communicate it.

A published scientific illustrator and local artist, she will discuss the similarities and differences between art and science, and how a merging of the two leads to extensive opportunities and abilities to effectively communicate and connect across disciplines.
